I finally made it to the top of Windy Pass for the second time! The view from here is absolutely incredible. I can see the three granite towers of Las Torres del Paine in the distance, behind me now, which are some of the most iconic mountains in Patagonia. They look even more impressive from up here. To my left, I can just barely make out Refugio Central, where I started my hike this morning. It's hard to believe that I climbed all the way up here in one day. I'm feeling a bit tired, but it was totally worth it for this view.
The hike to Windy Pass was challenging, but it was also incredibly rewarding. The scenery is just breathtaking. The mountains are rugged and snow-capped, and the glaciers are sparkling in the sunlight. There are also several lakes and rivers in the valley below, which look like tiny blue ribbons from up here. The air is crisp and clean, and I can hear the wind howling through the rocks.
I'm feeling on top of the world right now. I've accomplished something that I'm really proud of, and I'm surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth. This is a moment that I'll never forget.
I am 3 km / 1.86 miles from Refugio Central (2h) at 470 meters / 1,541 ft high.
3 km / 1.86 mi for comfort is almost nothing after 30 km / 18 mi.
